Technical Support and Repair Services
|
Technical Support:
We offer first class technical support from knowledgeable people who actually use the product on their own layouts.
Email is also available as well as regular mail and fax.
See our Installation and Operation manual for more details.
Service and Repairs:
All CVP equipment is designed for quick servicing.
Many repairs can be done by you so please call first.
We will use the built-in diagnostic equipment to help pinpoint the faulty unit.
However, should your equipment need servicing, please follow the instructions below.
Failures Caused By Abuse:
If CVP determines, while inspecting your product, that repairs are needed due to the failure of parts that are neither supplied by CVP nor CVP branded or are needed due to damage caused by abuse, misuse or misapplication, we reserve the right to perform repairs or to return the product to you without repairing it.
You are responsible for return shipping charges.
Failures Caused By Battery Leakage:
Battery leakage will destroy the circuit board.
Damage caused by leaky batteries can seldom be repaired and is not covered by any CVP warranty.
If repair is possible, the throttle may work OK for a while.
But it is not uncommon for the throttle to eventually experience intermittent operation.
Once this begins, this problem cannot be repaired.
Your only option is to purchase a replacement throttle.
Repair Terms and Conditions - Original Owner:
If beyond the product's warranty period, CVP will charge a reasonable fee to repair your CVP equipment as long a components are available.
CVP will perform repairs with proof of eligibility for such repairs.
You are responsible for shipping costs, both ways.
Payment arrangements must be made in advance.
Including a Visa/Mastercard insures minimum delays.
Sometimes the cost to repair a device is almost as much as purchasing a new one.
Before spending money on the repair, consider upgrading and obtain a brand new unit with a brand new warranty.
This is especially true with handheld equipment that sees lots of use.
Carefully consider the incremental cost to simply purchase a new unit compared to the cost to repair an older unit.
Repair Terms and Conditions - Used Equipment, and/or Not Original Owner:
There is a flat charge of $35 per device for repair evaluation, whether the device is repaired or not.
Additional charges for labor and parts will be added to the evaluation charge should you elect to proceed with repairs.
The evaluation fee must be paid before evaluation begins.
If you decide to have the equipment repaired, payment is due upon approval of repair charges.
If you elect not to have the equipment repaired, it will be returned to you.
You are responsible for return shipping charges.
Equipment Obsolescence:
In some cases, a device can not be repaired because components are obsolete and can not be obtained.
If the defective equipment is on this list, there are no guarantees that it can be repaired and you will be billed for the repair evaluation.
The following boosters have been discontinued: Booster3, Booster-5 and Booster-10.
Repair services are available.
The following Power Supplies have been discontinued: PS5 and PS10.
The internal transformers are now obsolete and no longer available from the manufacturer.
The following plug-in throttles contain components that are no longer manufactured and are considered unsuitable for repair services: PT64, FT-64, XR100, XR150, XR200 plug-in throttles.
The following wireless throttles contain components that are no longer manufactured and are considered unsuitable for repair services: TX90x series of wireless throttles.
Railcommand receivers that predate the Mini, Skinny, Kat1 and Power1 are considered obsolete.
Full support is maintained for the Mini, Skinny, Kat1 and Power1 receivers.
Reconditioned Parts:
CVP may use new or reconditioned parts for repairs.
Unless specifically requested, replaced parts will not be returned.

Warranty Information
|
30 Day Trial Period:
Every item we sell will give you complete satisfaction or you may return it for a full refund (less shipping).
You must call and obtain a return authorization number.
The equipment must be returned within 30 days of delivery to purchaser.
One [1] Year Limited Warranty:
After obtaining a return authorization number, you return the equipment for repair.
We will either repair or replace the faulty equipment for only the cost of shipping and handling (usually about $20).
Throttles and other handheld devices are subject to hard usage and the following items are considered normal wear and tear:
broken or worn throttle cable, broken case or knob, broken switches or broken throttle pot.
Repairs required due to normal wear and tear, physical damage or electrical abuse will be made at a fair and reasonable charge.
You must obtain an RMA before returning any items to us.
Used equipment returned for repair will be assessed an additional charge.
