The Auxiliary Power Station (APS) provides an easy way to isolate various parts of your layout to keep derailments from sorting out the entire layout.
The APS has 5 amps of power.
If a derailment results in a short, only the block in which the short occurs shuts off.
Elsewhere, trains continue to operation normally.
For large layouts, create "regions" such as towns, or yards or staging tracks, and use a separate APS for each.
As your layout grows, an APS can be quickly and easily added.
And you may use as many as needed.
